A statement on the association's Facebook page from its committee said they were "proceeding towards hosting the tournament this year", but said the uncertainty around coronavirus made it hard to put long-term plans in place.
"We are conscious that we may not be able to run the event at all. If the event does go ahead, we are unsure of what form it will take," the statement read.
"We do know It is unlikely to be the festival of Disc Golf which we were hoping it would be - one that grew from our great success as hosts of last year's event - with its incredible community engagement, player feedback and media coverage.
"As the situation with regards to hosting events across Australia is still fluid, we are holding off promoting the event until closer to the date; when we reach a point where we can be more certain about what form the event may take.
"A final decision will be made in consideration with local, state and national requirements as well as ADG guidelines.
"We ask that that anyone planning to come to the NSW Open hold off from registering or making arrangements for the event until we are able to make this decision."
