The state government has allocated at least $1 million to Orange as one of 24 eligible councils in mining communities in NSW as part of stage seven of the program.

A further $26 million will be allocated based on the most mining-affected communities.

Mayor Cr Reg Kidd said councillors would be briefed on possible projects for the money.

He said projects in contention would include providing toilets at the Naylor Pavilion at the Orange Showground.

It is expected an announcement will be made within the next two weeks about funding received by council under the previous stage.

Projects previously funded under the scheme have included the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of William Maker Drive and the Northern Distributor Road and the upgrade of the Southern Cadia Access Route between Orange and Carcoar.

Applications for the $50 million stage seven close on September 2.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro said $295 million had been provided to the 24 councils over the life of the Resources for Regions funding program

"The first six rounds of Resources for Regions delivered $295 million to mining related towns for critical infrastructure and programs, and the revamped fund will build on that success by ensuring funding flows to where it is needed most," he said.

"Every year our vibrant mining towns contribute to the NSW economy, but this success can place extra pressure on local infrastructure or create unique and diverse needs that are specific to mining communities.

"Mining communities and organisations told us what they need and we've received those messages loud and clear, which is why the revamped program will provide funding for a wider range of projects and make it easier for councils to secure funding."

Resources for Regions Round Seven is part of the $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, designed to support growing regional centres, activate local economies and improve services and community infrastructure for regional communities.

The eligible Local Government Areas in the Central West include Orange, Blayney and Cabonne,

Other eligible NSW council areas are Bland, Bogan, Broken Hill, Cessnock, Cobar, Gunnedah, Lake Macquarie, Lithgow, Liverpool Plains, Maitland, Mid-Western Regional, Muswellbrook, Narrabri, Narromine, Newcastle, Parkes, Singleton, Upper Hunter, Wentworth, Wollondilly and Wollongong.
