On Tuesday it showed that more than 4300 customers had been without power since June 17 in an area that stretched from the Orange CBD to Millthorpe, Guyong and Cadia.
However, an Essential Energy spokesman has revealed it was a glitch in the system.
"Earlier this month specialised zone substation technicians competed maintenance work at one of Essential Energy's Orange zone substations without the need for a planned power outage," he said.
"A technical issue resulted in an outage being shown as part of the works on Essential Energy's website.
"The issue has since been resolved."
Essential Energy's website provides information on planned and unplanned outages, with customers urged to contact 13 20 80 if they have an enquiry about planned or unplanned power outages.
