Development officer Central West NSW rugby union Jarrod Simpson recently had a board meeting with club executives and said the restrictions had eased enough for a competition in 2020 to be more than feasible.
"With the health orders the way they are, we feel like we can run a competition," Simpson said.
"People were very keen to have season and it won't be the usual standard but the idea was well supported and clubs are really interested."
The restrictions surrounding community sports are ever changing and Simpson's eyes are always fixed on the governing bodies and their rolling updates.
"NSW Rugby has all the resources and they will provide the information," he said.
"They're very up to date and aware of the changes. They're very helpful with those sorts of things."
Simpson's expecting the regular season to stretch for nine weeks before the finals series kicks off.
"Hopefully we'll be able to get an even draw out there," he said.
"It's a good opportunity for kids to get out there and play with their mates.
"It should be nice and warm at that time of the year and people will be happy to get outside after a period of restrictions. I'm looking forward to putting together a good competition."
Both City and Emus are slated to play across the junior and walla age brackets.
