Michael Henry John McDonald, 51, of Pindari Place, was driving north on McLachlan Street when he was stopped by police for a breath test at 11.30am on November 27, 2019.
McDonald told police he had a drink so he was given 15 minutes before the breath test was taken.
He returned a positive result and gave a low-range reading of 0.063 on analysis.
McDonald later told police he had three stubbies of beer between 9am and 11.20am.
In addition to the conviction, McDonald's driver's licence was disqualified for one-month.
McDonald was also placed on a 12-month interlock order meaning he will have to have an alcohol monitoring device fitted to his car.
