This week was due to mark the Cancer Council's annual Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser, and with in-person social events across the country banned due to coronavirus restrictions most looked set to be cancelled.
But not Glenroi's.
Teacher Jess McAlister said the school's staff had tried to find a way to continue to support the Cancer Council - and they turned out in a big way.
The drive-thru Biggest Morning Tea let people drive up to the school and donate for a coffee or plate of treats to be handed through the window, with Mervs coffee van donating coffees.
"We thought 'how can we do that with the current restrictions' and this was our brainwave and I think it's actually been bigger than other biggest morning teas," Miss McAlister said.
"It's a different morning tea for us, usually we invite families on site or do a cupcake sale or ask staff to give donations but this year we really wanted to bring a lot of the community back together."
She said the school had several staff members who had been affected by cancer in recent years and they were determined to still hold a fundraiser.
"When it comes to Cancer Council fundraising we have a really great team who were all ready to go for Relay for Life and this was the next big thing to come through."
Miss McAlister said there'd been a "really steady stream of cars and people" coming along. "It's been a really beautiful vibe."
