A council spokesman said the money was not tied to a specific project. Instead a project on the roadworks priority list would be chosen.
It will improve our local roads and provide for new and upgraded community infrastructure.
- Andrew Gee, member for Calare
Member for Calare Andrew Gee said under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program councils could select projects ranging from road signs to bridge repairs and cycle paths to spend the money.
"Every single job we support makes a huge difference in our local communities, both now and as we navigate out of the coronavirus pandemic," he said.
"Not only will this package support jobs and economic activity across the Orange City Council area, it will improve our local roads and provide for new and upgraded community infrastructure, which is a great investment.
"I will be working closely with council to make sure projects get underway to help support local employment and businesses."
