BATHURST Orange Inter District Cricket executives have quenched calls for a one-off, all-off approach to wet weather games for the 2020-21 season at a meeting last week.
With a number of matches called off due to rain during the first season of the re-formed competition, clubs had discussed the possibility of cancelling all games across both Bathurst and Orange should one game be missed.
However, Bathurst District Cricket Association president and BOIDC vice-president Campbell Graham said the discussion was quickly shut down.
"We discussed questions that had been brought up after last season and issues, including possible changes of formats," Graham said.
"Obviously there's been a bit of a cry for one-day cricket, to see if we can strike a balance between one and two-day cricket, plus there was discussion about the use of covers on grounds and that the correct ones get used.
"The big one though, which we heard a couple of times across the season was the wet weather rule. I know there's a couple of pushes from moreso spectators than players saying that their club was disadvantaged by the rule.
"It's very hard though to put in a place saying if there's one game off then all games are off."
Graham said there was the potential for clubs to take advantage of rules wiping out entire rounds.
"A club could be in a really bad position and they'll just not put covers on, which would ruin it for all clubs involved," he said.
"That's not acceptable. You're dealing with grounds that are five to six kilometres apart and some that are 60 kilometres apart. And I believe you should be basing each ground on its own merits."
Graham said over the next few weeks the committee will start involving clubs in the discussion for where to take the 2020-21 season.
"We'll try to get in contact with clubs sooner rather than later to discuss their thoughts with them and where they'd like to go," he said.
