Orange City Council spokesman Allan Reeder said Orange received more than 90 millimetres of rain last week and Summer Hill Creek ran at 150 litres a second on Monday.

"Because the soil moisture profile was already wet upstream of Suma Park dam, there's been some good early flows," he said.

"Council water managers will be monitoring the stream gauge closely in the coming days to see how long the water flow continues."

He said there had also been steady flows from the Macquarie River pipeline and stormwater harvesting schemes.

"Council staff will be looking at the totals from all those sources early next week to see how far the start of level six can be pushed back," he said.

The previous week, storage sat at 22.4 per cent capacity.
