Essential Energy will switch power off between 9am and 4pm.
Essential Energy Macquarie operations manager Jamie Warren said the planned power outage was originally scheduled in March but had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
"The planned power outage will allow TransGrid to safely complete maintenance on the high voltage electricity transmission network and will also enable an authorised contractor, engaged by Cabonne Council, to complete a power upgrade to Molong Recreation Ground," he said.
"To reduce the number of planned power outages affecting customers, significant planning has occurred so that both these pieces of work can be completed during the same outage."
TransGrid operates and manages the high voltage electricity transmission network across the state, with Essential Energy then distributing the electricity through the poles and wires to homes and businesses.
"Given the planned power outage will affect all homes and businesses in Molong and the surrounding area, on this occasion we've been able to schedule the works for a Sunday, to reduce the overall inconvenience of the outage on the wider community," Mr Warren said.
"We appreciate that planned power outages may cause inconvenience for some customers but they are necessary at times to allow third parties, and Essential Energy, to safely complete maintenance and upgrades to the electricity network."
The scheduled works are reliant on suitable weather conditions.
