Another new constable, Constable Brady McGovern has also started in Orange, the third officer, Constable Michael Robinson has started in Parkes.
"I've got family in the industry and I just wanted to help the community and police just like my uncle," Constable Hamilton said.
Constable Hamilton started working in Orange on April 11 after graduating from the NSW Police Academy at Goulburn on April 9 and said the job has been great so far.
"I just had that one day in between, I had to do a big move but it was good to get straight into it," he said.
"It's where I wanted to come to as well, it was my first preference.
"I wanted to get away from Sydney, I like the country, I've always liked it out this way."
Constable Hamilton came from Winmalee in the Blue Mountains and before becoming a police officer he worked in a range of areas.
"I worked at a retirement village as a maintenance man, I've done factory work at a steel place, and did playground installation all over NSW," he said.
"I've only had a few shifts so far but it's been great so far.
"It is a different type of policing at the moment, there's not as many people out on the streets obviously."
