Coronavirus cases in region steady at three, one in Orange, as people continue their recovery

More than a month after COVID-19 was first detected in the region, there are now only three active cases left - two in the Mid-Western local government area and one in the Orange LGA.

A person in the Dubbo LGA who was listed on Thursday's COVID-19 update has now recovered.

Overall 45 people in the Western NSW Local Health District (LHD) have been diagnosed with the virus, with the region recording one death earlier this month.

Of those who contracted the virus, at least one was on board the ill-fated Ruby Princess cruise which finally left Australian waters on Thursday.

Meanwhile, across Australia of the 6670 diagnosed COVID-19 cases, there are fewer than 1600 active cases left.

Nationwide there have been 77 deaths from the virus, including 34 in NSW.

A Western NSW LHD spokeswoman said it was critical that communities in the region continue to practice social distancing to minimise the risk of the transmission of COVID-19.

"This is important for everyone, but particularly for older people and people with health conditions that make them more vulnerable," she said.

"It's also important that we protect our health care workers who we need to stay well to provide care to people who become sick with COVID-19."
