The Opals great and two-time WNBA champion, installed as head of Australian women's basketball last year, met virtually with the WNBL commission on Thursday to continue formulating what the league's 41st season may look like.

Their three-season deal with Fox Sports ended this year while the NBL last week announced tiered player salary cuts of up to 50 per cent as well as a reduction in rosters and import spots.

Jackson said everything was on the table as "clubs tried to survive through this period".

"But I'm confident we're not in a bad situation; it's more 'watch this space' at the moment," she told AAP.

"We've been here 40 seasons through times of crisis, we're not one of those leagues that may go under."

Australia will host the 2022 women's World Cup while the NBL's Sydney Kings invested last month when they bought the Sydney Flames.

Jackson hopes the exposure gives the world No.2 Opals welcome spotlight and said local talent meant limited or no access to imports in the WNBL wouldn't damage the league.

"I think regardless of whether we have imports or not, we have such quality athletes in the league and all the best Australian players playing in it," she said.

"This year was the first time a foreigner (Canadian Kia Nurse) has won our MVP; a lot of our girls are playing in the WNBA - we have the globetrotters right here."

Jackson said the league was pushing for a digital broadcast deal that would allow them to do "a million things online".

"We've felt like we've known where we're going for a long time; it would've been nice to announce some things but everything's slowed down (due to the virus)," she said.

"It's posed some challenges to the front office, but I'm still positive about where women's basketball is going."
