Bathurst and Orange Corp officer Kate Cathcart said she has noticed people had been leaving various items outside their doors.
"We appreciate that people are donating to the Salvation Army, however leaving the items is littering," she said.
"For those who are interested to donate their clothes, we have a notification list set up and we will notify you when we are able to take in donations."
Staying connected during COVID-19 is an essential part of the service and the Salvation Army team is providing online services for the Orange community.
"We are running online church services and sending Church at Home packs, which are resources for people to follow the church services," Ms Cathcart said.
"We are also providing social distance home services and deliveries for people who are dealing with financial hardship and regularly calling people to check up on them."
With social distancing restrictions in place, this year's Red Shield Appeal will be launched online.
"The door knock appeal won't be going ahead but for those who want to donate a digital campaign will be launched in the next couple of weeks to help the community in need."
