As a footy player, spending the week without training and games can be a shock to the system but for a dual-code athlete like Duncan Young, it's even more alarming.

The 28-year-old plays for both Orange City rugby union and Orange Hawks rugby league and while April without footy looks bleak, it's a good time for him to recharge the batteries before re-entering a gruelling schedule which for him, features four training sessions and two games per week across both codes.
While the likelihood of a Blowes Clothing Cup or Group 10 season is still unknown, Young plans to enter the shortened schedule with a 'sprint not a marathon' mentality and knows whoever fires out of the blocks first will be at an advantage.
"We'll probably only play each other one time around if we go back," Young said.
"It's going to be very different for a lot of people because you can't really build up to the season.
"You've got to come out guns blazing and work hard to get those wins on the board."
According to Young, one of the players who'll be ready for the guns blazing approach is 2019 skipper Josh Tremain who he touts as someone who hasn't taken a foot off the gas throughout all of this drama.
"He's probably been going pretty hard," he said.
"He didn't get to play much last year and he'd be really keen to get back out there." While you'd like to think all the players are in the gym every afternoon, Young admitted himself and a few others might be enjoying the time off a bit too much.
"There's a few who aren't training as much... myself included," he said.
"We're just leaving it up to the individual, though. There's no set times for a return as of now and we can't get groups together.
"Obviously everyone's all really missing footy and not just playing but the social aspect as well."
When Rugby Australia first address the coronavirus restrictions back on March 16, it said there would be further announcements to come in the first week of May which means the next update might not be too far away.
As for rugby league, the NRL is pushing to make a return next month but whether or not that will have a flow-on effect to grassroots competition is unknown.
