There's isn't a more applicable phrase ahead of this weekend's BOIDC elimination semi-final match between Orange CYMS and St Pat's Old Boys as 16-year-old youngster Harry West will start in the middle order after putting together a sensational season in the ODCA's second grade, registering a pair of centuries along the way.
The appearance won't be West's debut - he's played a few games in the top grade before - but will certainly be the biggest match of his campaign as he's set to bat in the middle order for the team's away do-or-die clash at Bathurst this weekend.
Harry will join his brother Tom in the line-up as the duo make up one of two sibling combos playing for CYMS, with Hugh and Angus Le Lievre kitting up as well.
He got here by sheer weight of runs. It was a well deserved call-up... he's very capable
- Hugh Le Lievre
Skipper Hugh Le Lievre said the performances Harry has been producing in lower grades this summer were impossible to ignore, making a promotion the obvious choice.
"He got here by sheer weight of runs. It was a well deserved call-up ... he's very capable," he said.
"He's a great kid too. He's level-head and self-assured."
While St Pat's Old boys finished ahead of CYMS on the ladder - and have only lost the one game all season - Le Lievre's touting his side's recent form as an important factor and hopes things continue into the finals.
"We've been playing some good cricket in the last month. We've had our best two performances in the last two rounds," he said.
"The form's come at the right time of the year for us so hopefully we can go on with it.
"Their [St Pat's] squad makes up the bulk of the Bathurst rep side so they're certainly a capable team with lots of excellent players."
The two-day elimination final will commence at 11am from Bathurst Sprotsground and will wrap up on Sunday afternoon.
