Mrs Sandford's sister and Steph's Sass Squad team captain Justine Tranfaglia said the team formed last year to raise funds at the Stars of Orange to fight cancer before her sister died, and now about 10 family members and school friends have joined the team to continue the fight at the relay.
"It's bringing up a lot of emotions but it's the perfect way to celebrate Steph and what she believed in and getting together to raise money to fight cancer and to find a cure," Ms Tranfaglia said.
According to the Relay for Life website, the team has raised $1800 but Ms Tranfaglia said the team has raised more than that and will beat its $2000 goal with a cake stall and a selfie wall on the day.
She said One Strength is also running a boot camp at the relay with a push-up and burpee competition and all proceeds will go to Steph's Sass Squad.
Ms Tranfaglia said it was great that Mrs Sandford's dance students from United Dance Project took the initiative to form the Dream to Dance team in her honour.
The Dream to Dance team has 45 members from and has raised $7000 to date through donations and assistance from several businesses.
The businesses include Spilt Milk Bar, which created a gelato in Mrs Sandfords name and is donating the profits from the gelato to the team's fundraising effort.
Team member Lyla Luxford said the team had already increased its fundraising goal twice.
"Our first goal was $2000 and we smashed it and then we raised it to $5000 and we smashed that so we raised it to $8000," Lyla said.
"It's in honour of Miss Steph and we know she would have loved us to get involved."
She said the team raised $500 by selling bandannas at the dance studio.
Dream to Dance will also sell food such as bacon and egg rolls in the morning, soup later in the day, and they would also run activities such as face painting. In the evening they will host a disco.
The Relay for Life will run from 10am on Saturday to 8am Sunday at Waratah Sports Ground with all money raised to go to Cancer Council NSW.
