Waratahs' seniors secretary Robyn Churchland has had her sights set on a movement like this for a while and says the goal is to make it a simple, fun environment.
"We've had girls playing in other competitions for a while but a lot of people can't travel every weekend," Churchland said.
"This will be on in Orange at the same time on the same day, every week."
It's as easy as that. The plan is to run a four-team tournament that's played at 1.30pm every Saturday so players know what dates and times they need to free up for the entire season before it starts.
The only thing preventing it from becoming official is numbers.
"Our goal is to make up four teams and we've had a bit of interest but we're just not there yet," Churchland said.
"We've still got a lot of people transitioning over from winter sports so it's taking a bit of time.
"It's important to sign up soon because we're looking to kick-off in April."
Not only does Churchland hope to see plenty of adults sign up, she's encouraging teenagers to challenge themselves and mix it up with the ladies.
"You don't have to be 18 to play," she said.
"If you're 14 or 15 and you want to play then go for it. It's an important stepping stone for juniors and helps them reach the next level.
"We don't want to lose our young players to other codes and we don't want the girls playing with the boys forever."
Unfortunately for Orange, that's what's been happening in past seasons as women who don't want to play with the boys don't have as many options as they should.
Although Churchland's doing a fair chunk of behind-the-scenes work, it's very much a 'joint effort' at this point in time.
"All the clubs are working together to get this off the ground," she said.
"One club can't do it on its own.
"Soccer's a wonderful game and we want to keep the players we have by giving them an option to play locally.
"It's a good chance for girls to become fitter, make friends and build their skills."
If it is to launch, the four-team competition would kick-off in early April.
