Club president Darren Sinclair said it would include a $500,000 re-development of its 'big red storage shed' and $700,000 to re-seal a car park.
The club has submitted a development application for the work to Orange City Council.
He said demand from sporting clubs, particularly AFL, rugby, soccer and touch football teams, meant there was an increasing need for more facilities at the site.
The main thing we've got to try to do for a major grant is we've got to have a DA in place.

Under the proposal an upgraded gymnasium, another bar, male and female change rooms and toilets would be added as part of an extension and upgrade of the large storage shed.
"We've got the change rooms on the northern side of the club. It's a bit awkward for all the clubs to share the clubrooms," he said.
Mr Sinclair said re-sealing the car park would alleviate dust and dirt problems in different seasons and also improve the amenity of the area.
He said they would seek funding for the work from government agencies.
"The main thing we've got to try to do for a major grant is we've got to have a DA in place," he said.
"It's all on Crown land."
Mr Sinclair said the population growth in north Orange was contributing to the increased demand for the facilities.
"We were out of town originally, now its [like] the centre of Orange," he said.
"It's a growing area. It is utilised by a lot of people.
"A lot of community events are happening."
Mr Sinclair said the club now had about 4000 members.
The current DA is the latest of several planned modifications dating back to 2016.
The club gained consent in January 2017 for earthworks, changes to sports fields, and to extend the existing storage shed.
Waratahs then sought to alter that approval in regards to extensions to the shed but that modification was withdrawn in 2019.
That has now modified to the current plan to formalise the use of the shed as a gymnasium and extend it to provide new change rooms, toilets and a storage mezzanine area.
The DA will now be considered by council staff.
