The under 14s side recovered from a nightmare start to their chase to get themselves in the hunt at Victoria Park but ultimately finished nine runs short, while Mitchell's under 12s went down by just two wickets at Cahill Park.
Macqaurie's Fletcher Hyde proved the difference in the under 14s clash.
The opener scored 53 of Macquarie's 129 runs, working alongside Max Richardson (10) to put on a match-winning 56 run partnership for the seventh wicket.
Mitchell had let the match get away after having Macquarie at 6-39 but they had an opportunity to make amends with the bat.
Unfortunately Mitchell's start with the willow was cataclysmic.
Josh Meers (0) was caught on the third ball of the innings, James Harper was run out for a diamond duck and Eli Morris (0) was cleaned bowled the following over to leave Mitchell at 3-1.
Orange's Charlie Tink (20) provided a necessary stabilisation of the innings against his former association while Bathurst's Jacob Lamb (20) also got the chase back on track.
By the time both batsman were dismissed Mitchell had made a game of it at 6-65.
A couple of quick dismissals looked to have ended Mitchell's hopes but a late stand from captain Cooper Martin (29) on his home wicket sent the game to a nailbiting finish.
Martin was the last wicket to fall for Mitchell, caught off the bowling of none other than man-of-the-match Hyde.
Mitchell coach Dave Hunter said Hyde was the difference on a deck offering up plenty for bowlers.
"Their last four wickets put on almost 90 runs ... and we were at 3-1 after just nine balls. The wicket was favourable for bowlers but Fletcher Hyde - the only person to score over 30 - was the clear difference. He batted very well in those conditions," he said.
"It's a lesson for the Mitchell bowlers in having the discipline to keep going when you've got a team by the throat. We became a bit ill disciplined and allowed them to turn over strike.
"Cooper Martin, our captained, batted well and brought an energy to the crease that we lacked in the rest of the innings. His intent to score showed the rest of his team how it could be done.
"He got us within touching distance but unfortunately was the last wicket to fall. We'd got it back to almost a run a ball needed at that stage."
Mitchell's under 12s also managed to get within touching distance of victory after a shaky start.
They limped their way to 117 after recent double centurion Toby Middleton (32) and Cooper Stephen (13) were the only batsmen to reach double digits.
Middleton (2-3) was superb in his short spell with the ball but Macquarie skipper Cooper Giddings' 49 runs would prove the difference between the teams.
