The Suncorp Bank left Orange a few years ago with its ordinary banking business being transferred to Dubbo.
Suncorp Bank has come back to Orange for its business customers only.
There is a most welcoming sign on the front door, "Door is permanently locked. Access by appointment only".
Not much help for ordinary folk, who just want to do a bit of normal banking.
It is regrettable that the smaller banks come into town with a flourish of publicity inviting citizens to bank with them and extolling the advantages of banking with the smaller banks rather than the Big 4 and then leave their customers high and dry.
The smaller banks offer friendly customer service - something that the Big 4 have lost interest in.
Meanwhile, the not-for-profit Credit Unions continue their fine tradition of reliable and friendly service.
They have not let the citizens in regional and country towns down.
