The 14-year-old will travel to Pyrmont each Sunday for the next three terms to be part of the company's youth ensemble, which is designed to hone dancers' technique in a professional setting.
Claudia said the audition took place over two classes, one in improvisation and one in contemporary technique, rather than a solo performance.
"It was judged on how I went in those classes and it really did help me settle the nerves," she said.

She said she was "absolutely shocked" when she received the good news by email and looked forward to honing her contemporary technique.
"It means I'll have the background in what's done at Sydney Dance Company and the styles they do," she said.
"I'm hoping to get into a full-time dance company when I'm older."
It is not Claudia's first time travelling long distances, having previously travelled to Melbourne during school holidays as part of the Australian Ballet School's interstate program.
"It feels a lot nicer to be closer to home and not travelling as long hours," she said.
