We all know that rivers and creeks have to have environmental flows to keep them running or they clog up and don't flow.

Well our sewer system requires a similar flow.
When the sewers were laid, they were designed for large volumes of water from the old overhead cisterns and people having baths with a large volume of water.
Over the years this has all changed the cisterns are low volume and half flush, people are short showering and latterly collecting buckets of shower water to keep their gardens alive.
All good for our water usage but we are not doing the sewage system any favors, there are no large volumes of water to flush the solids through the system and we could finish up like the creeks - all blocked up.
