Mr Curry has started Orange Kombi Capers, featuring his 1977 Kombi, Clifford, named after book character Clifford the Big Red Dog.
"You've got to give it a name and it has a moustache on the front so that ruled out the girls names," he said.
"My wife and I travelled Europe in a Kombi and it was great - they're classic vehicles, they're really cool and people give you waves no matter what," he said.
Clifford is fitted out with a coffee machine, but also has seating for up to seven people for wine tours.
Mr Curry said in addition to markets and wine tourism, he was targeting wedding recovery - visiting wedding party accommodation and providing guests with a caffeine pick-me-up after celebrations.
Empire blooms
THE man behind Byng Street Local Store and Coffee Cart has opened another hospital venture, this time at Bloomfield Medical Centre.
Named Cafe Bloom, owner Jeremy Norris said it was focusing on healthy food for the private hospital's staff and visiting families.
"We're doing sandwiches and salads, predominantly healthy food, because it's in a medical centre," he said.
The cafe will open on weekdays until more services move into the hospital, but opening hours start at a very early 5am to take advantage of Cadia Valley Operations employees heading to work.
In time, Mr Norris hoped the cafe could supply lunches to CVO, plus fit out the al fresco space.
"If people have a family member in the hospital who is not well, they need a private corner," he said.
Michael's marvel
NOT many business owners can say they know the CBD like Michael Gryllis.
The owner of Patmos Garden Cafe, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in business last week, said he was his eighth business location.
The cafe has called several storefronts in Lords Place and Summer Street home in that time, as well as the corner of Hill and March streets before finally settling at Orange Botanic Gardens.
Mr Gryllis said he celebrated the milestone with a family dinner and still hoped to sell the business.
"The secret is don't sit on the lounge watching a square box - keep on working."
