Kinross spinner Cumming has been selected in the NSW Country Sixers side in the Male Under 16 State Challenge which begins on Australia Day.
Cumming said he was stoked to get into the side off the back of performances for Orange and club - with the chance to push his case in front of selectors in Albury-Wodonga late last year dashed as bushfire smoke caused the cancellation of the Bradman and Kookaburra Cups.
"I'm very excited. I wondered if I was going to get picked," he said.
"I was pumped to to play one of my last under 16 games and it's unfortunate it got cancelled but that's how it is sometimes."
Cumming has been economical all season, although he's still wanting more despite continuing to build pressure at one end.
"I feel like I'm bowling well, but I'm not taking as many wickets as I'd like. I'm trying to bowl a tight line and build that pressure," he said.
Is that pressure helping teammates take wickets?
"I hope that's what it is," he said laughing.
"I feel like I'm bowling five or six good balls but every now and again letting them off. I want to make sure I'm bowling six good balls."
Each team will line up in three limited overs matches, with NSW Metropolitan and NSW Country having two sides apiece.
Bathurst duo Bailey Brien and Tom Coady were also selected in the sides from Western.
The carnival will be used to help select under 17 academy squads for both metro and country.
The State Challenge begins on Australia Day in Blacktown, with the Country Sixers and Metro Thunder kicking off the first game.
