Planned for January 11-27, last year's Summer Festival had offered a series of entertainment options and events, as well as opening sections of the garden that was normally closed to the public.
On the weekends, there was the festival, with live music, woodfired pizza and a homemade lemonade stand.
However, Mayfield Garden announced on its Facebook page the Summer Festival would not be happening, with CEO Frank Crews saying the decision to cancel the event was due to the current bushfires that are devastating large parts of NSW.
"The directors in senior management took the view that it was not appropriate to have the festival when so many are suffering right now he said," he said.
"There's been loss of life around us and firefighters are fighting fires all around the state. It just didn't feel respectful and right to have the festival while these fires are happening."

However, while the event was cancelled, Mayfield Garden will remain open as usual throughout the festival's planned dates.
"Our garden still remains open," he said.
"We haven't been affected by the fires, knock on wood."
The fact that the Mayfield Garden remains in great condition is also due to the work gardeners have done to manage the water they have, which is sourced from a bore.
"Our water is sourced from both bore water and ground water," Mr Crews explained.
"We have a strict water management system to minimise the water that we use.
"Our bore is doing us well right now."
Mayfield Garden is one the world's largest privately-owned cool climate gardens and has been open to the public since 2008.
For 16 days each season, Mayfield Garden owner Garrick Hawkins opens up extra parts of the garden for the public to see.
Mayfield Garden is open seven days a week, from 9am to 4.30pm, including public holidays except Christmas and Boxing Day.
