FIREFIGHERS may have been called to a number of fires across the region on Saturday, but there has been no reported property loss or damage.
There was a severe to extreme fire danger risk on the day and firefighters were on standby to respond.
Areas around Lithgow, Running Stream, Wolgan Valley, Oberon and Jenolan Caves have already seen significant fire damage this bushfire season and firefighters said the predicted weather on Saturday could lead to dangerous and unpredictable fire behaviour.
A statewide total fire ban is in place for Sunday, January 5.
The Premier has declared a seven-day state of emergency starting on Friday. This means powers to be transferred from the NSW government to the Rural Fire Service Commissioner.
