Orange will contest the under-13 carnival which begins next Monday although, sadly, the touring side from St John's Academy India was a forced withdrawal after their visas were denied, with negotiations continuing regarding the under-15 outfit's entry to Australia.
Orange, headlined by the likes of Ollie Brincat, Hayden Griffith, Oli Jarrock and Morty Hamling, will still face the likes of Penrith, Inner West Harbour, Bankstown, Dubbo and Radford College in their bid to claim the title, with defending champions ACT Blue not in the draw for this summer.
Up-and-coming guns Toby Middleton and Dan Ritchie will also front in next week's under-13 carnival, they'll be wearing Mitchell Cricket Council colours though, with the Black Caps' full side to be named in the coming days.
Dan Hunter and Luke Hunter are both locked in to represent Mitchell in the under-15 carnival the following week as well, with a handful of other Orange hopefuls still a chance of being lifted in that outfit as well.
Mitchell's under-15 side is expected to be a red-hot outfit too, especially considering every Orange player of that age will be available for selection, the black and golds won't contest that title.
The ODJCA withdrew their under-15 side after another outfit pulled out and no back-ups were available, so as to alleviate the need for a bye each day.
However an Orange under-15 side has still be named to face New Zealand's Wakatipu High School in a Twenty20 clash on Sunday, January 11.
With Wakatipu returning for the under-15 tournament proper but Orange withdrawing, the ODJCA wanted to ensure the Sharpe-Mawhinney Shield was still contested this year, as such the two sides will open the 2020 carnival with a blockbuster short-form encounter.
The Hunter brothers have both been named in that Orange side along with the city's only Western Zone Kookaburra Cup representative Gus Cornish, they'll be joined by the likes of stars-in-waiting Jono Rasmussen, Nick Murphy, Arnie Tancred and Campbell Warburton.
The under-13 carnival kicks off on January 6 while the under-15 carnival, played in conjunction with the under-15 girls' tournament, begins the following week.
