Slightly cooler temperatures in the evening drew crowds of around 400 for the McCormack Barber NYE Party Under the Stars.
Jumping castles and ice creams kept the little ones entertained while adults enjoyed the live music.
Dalas Webb and Sebastian Jones each played a set, while Pooka the clown got some laughs.
Organiser Peter McCormack collected around $1000 for drought relief, which he promised to match.
"I'm really please with the support people have shown. It was very hot and very windy early today and I thought 'there's not many families who'll bring their children out in that' but they did," he said.
Mr McCormack made the decision not to go ahead with a $20,000 fireworks display on Sunday night, with Tuesday's weather forecast predicted for 35 °, with a possible storm and a possible dust haze.
He said having hosted the event for seven years now, he and daughter Milly McCormack would be working on ways to make it feasible.
"At this stage I can't see it not going ahead next year," he said.
