Take Joseph Moulder, a former convict who rose to become a major landowner.
Apart from Moulder Street being named after him others are named after his relatives.
DORA STREET
Dora Moulder (1848-1942) was one of about 11 children to Mr Moulder and Caroline Clements (Catto).
In the 1980s historian Les Hughes said in a study of Orange streets she became an "esteemed member" of the Salvation Army.
In her lifetime she saw Dora Street grow to become the centre of East Orange and then slowly return to being a routine street.
From 1903-1912 Dora Street was home to the East Orange municipal council chambers.
The East Orange Heritage Trail guide says that up until about 1915 Dora Street was also home to the East Orange police station and the officer's residence with stables behind.
The three buildings today are residences, though the properties have been altered.
MCLACHLAN STREET
Not only did Dora have a street named after her so did her husband John McLachlan.
Historian William Folster wrote in the Central Western Daily in 1949 Mr McLachlan was an 'old pioneer solicitor'.
"McLachlan gave great service to Orange," he said.
"He built for a residence the present Wolaroi College.
"As a solicitor he was frequently commended by visiting judges for his fairness and consideration."
Historian, Les Hughes said it was "known for many years as McLachlan's Mansion.
"Mr McLachlan was the first captain of the Orange Volunteer Infantry Corps which he commanded for 11 years."
EDWARD STREET
It is understood Edward Street is named after Dora's brother Edward Henry Moulder (1844-1922).
An obituary in the Sydney Morning Herald on July 11, 1922, said he was "actively engaged in the land and stock industry all his life. In early life he was a well-known cricketer, pigeon shot and runner."
It said he was the licensing magistrate in Orange and a founder of the Masonic Lodge in Condobolin.
He also managed many of his father's rural properties.
