Orange City councillor and chair of the sports and recreation committee, Jason Hamling, has applauded a move by Cabonne to introduce free entry for seven pools, however he said there were no plans to do the same in Orange.
Cr Hamling said the drought relief measure would help farming families who used the Molong, Canowindra, Cudal, Cumnock, Eugowra, Manildra and Yeoval pools.
Students up to 18-years-old with a valid student ID will get free weekend entry in January and the first weekend of February.
"It's a great idea for Cabonne, it's an act of goodwill by Cabonne," he said.
The prices in Orange aren't exorbitant and there are concessions.

However, he said the Orange centre was on a different scale to Cabonne's pools.
"We've got an indoor facility, we've got trained lifeguards, we have canteen facilities, it's a bigger facility," he said.
"There's a bit of a cost involved with that.

Cabonne has also announced the entry fees for its five village pools at Cudal, Cumnock, Eugowra, Manildra and Yeoval including $2 for children and senior citizens and $3 for adults daily.
A family day pass is $10 with season passes costing $55 for children and senior citizens, $70 for adults and $125 for families.
