Central West Police District will join districts from around the state in launching Operation Safe Arrival on December 20.
Double demerits will be in force from December 20 through to midnight on January 1, with mobile phone offences resulting in a loss of up to 10 demerit points.
Central West Police District Inspector Dave Harvey said police would be targeting speeding, use of heldheld devices and seatbelt offences on top of drug and alcohol use.
"Our message is simply do not speed, take care of your fatigue levels and rest," he said.
"Don't use handheld devices and don't be impaired by alcohol or drugs.
"If you're caught you will be charged."
He said all police vehicles would be breath and drug testing over the period.
"All people want people to do over this period is to get to their destination safely and spend time with family and friends," Inspector Harvey said.
