Tremain's South-Australian born teammate Callum Ferguson collected the first Big Bash yellow hat - which the leading run-scorer of the tournament will wear in the field after his unbeaten 73 off just 44 deliveries.
That total helped the Thunder to post 6-172, overcoming the loss of the early wickets of Usman Khawaja (22), English import Alex Hales (7) and Matt Gilkes (4).
Alex Ross (30) and Chris Green (25) both played hands alongside Ferguson, who anchored the innings for the lime greens, with Mitch Swepson (2-11 from two overs) the pick of the Heat bowlers.
Tremain took the vital wicket of Heat skipper Chris Lynn in the chase, with the power-hitting former Australian whacking a slower full toss straight to Ferguson at cover for just nine runs.
The Yeoval native went at a smidge over a run-a-ball on a batting-friendly Gabba deck to finish with 1-27 from his four overs.
However, his teammates Green and Arjun Nair (2-19 from and 2-22) both cleaned up during their four overs to strangle the hosts' chances at winning, the Heat being dismissed for 143 in the final over when Ben Laughlin holed out in the deep off the bowling of Daniel Sams.
Tremain will return to Victoria - where he's playing domestically - to take on Sheffield Shield teammates Aaron Finch, Sam Harper and co when the Thunder play reigning premiers the Melbourne Renegades on Thursday night.
The two sides will clash in Geelong, where the Renegades have made their second home, from 7.10pm.
