A witness noticed a young child in the rear seat of an unattended vehicle parked on Oberon Road at Oberon about 5.25pm last Friday, December 5.
A short time later, the concerned witness notified officers attached to Chifley Police District who attended immediately due to concerns for the welfare of the child.
Police found the child unsupervised and despite efforts were unable to gain a response from outside the vehicle.
Due to the conditions, with Oberon reaching a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius on Friday, officers forced entry to the vehicle via a window.
A short time later, a 22-year-old woman arrived and unlocked the car.
The three-year-old girl was checked by NSW Ambulance personnel and was not taken to hospital.
Inquiries continue.
