Not since 2012-13 has a Kinross side made the Second Grade finals and even though they were beaten grand finalists that summer, it takes trawling even further back through the archives to find a time when the students consistently made an impact.
All the way back to the days prior to Bathurst-Orange Inter-District Cricket's split following the 2006-07 season in fact. The students didn't play in the combined top grade, and as such they're out-and-out stars dominated the lower grades.
The 2019-20 crop of two blues' 100-run wash of CYMS in this summer's seventh round was their third win of the season, with one of those being an outright victory they've pulled five points clear of second-placed Cavaliers on the table.
Through Tom Madigan (57), Nelson Shepherd (54), Stu Crisp (34), Matt Mieklejohn (27) and Ollie Hoskin (23) the students piled on 278 on day one before restricting CYMS to 168 in reply, on last Saturday's second day.
Jono Rasmussen, who also made 22, was outstanding with the ball to snare 4-17 from 13 miserly overs, five of which were maidens. Like Rasmussen, Crisp also completed a strong, all-round performance by taking 3-46, with Andrew Henry's 40 the top score for CYMS.
While Kinross moved to the top of the table for the first time in recent memory, two-time defending premiers Orange City dropped another game to remain firmly cemented to the bottom.
The Warriors were convincingly beaten by Centrals, the red and blacks bouncing back from a disappointing outright defeat at Kinross' hands to win by seven wickets.
Chasing Orange City's day one score of 148, Centrals were 3-92 as play resumed on Saturday's second day at Jack Brabham 2 and lost just one more wicket on their way to victory.
Cam Rasmussen, who was not out on five overnight, went on to guide his side home and finish with 64 Adam Danielson finished with 35 as well as Centrals eventually declared at 9-298.
In terms of chasing an outright result that declaration came far too late though and Orange City were 2-101 when stumps were called.
In Saturday's Third Grade games the Gladstone (4-302) defeated Cavaliers (7-201), CYMS Kellys (7-122) took down Centrals Wanderers (120), Spring Hill (194) edged out CYMS Bourkes (192) and Orange City (8-204) knocked off Centrals White (65).
The Centenary Cup season has broken for school holidays, and will return on February 1.
