Of course, it's made so much worse when you don't offer a shot, and you're left to tell your disbelieving, often laughing, teammates that it swung, decked and was generally as unplayable a ball as you've ever faced.
In turn, that's made so much worse when your batting partner at the time inevitably comes off at drinks, or when they're dismissed and loudly proclaims 'it was gun-barrel straight, and took middle and off', naturally waiting until the entire team is within earshot.
