James Dalton junior and brother Thomas established the Dalton Brothers Store in Orange in the 1860s and 1870s along with major business interests including flour milling locally and importing and exporting in Sydney.
Their father James senior, a former convict, moved to Orange after gaining a ticket of freedom in the 1840s.
Ms Edwards will launch her new book, Wearing the Green The Daltons and the Irish Cause in the Dalton Room at Duntryleague on Friday November 15 from 6pm.
She said the family was "heavily involved" in supporting the cause of land rights and later independence in their native Ireland.
People wishing to attend the launch need to RSVP by Wednesday November 6 by emailing liz.edwards@orangepeel.it or phoning 6362 8647.
