The city's newest residents enjoyed a community meet and greet lunch arranged by Orange City Council at the Botanic Gardens on Sunday.
Mayor Reg Kidd said about 300 people moved to Orange every year and the number was growing.
He said the event was now run twice a year.
"The feedback has always been very positive," he said.
Cr Kidd said it helped newcomers meet people outside of their circle of workmates and was a chance for them to see what services and clubs were available in the city.
People at Sunday's event ranged from the Moyo family who moved from Zimbabwe to Orange six years ago to Peter and Samantha Beck who moved from Sydney to Orange last week.
"We've only been here five days," Mr Beck said.
"I'm in IT, I start work on Monday week.
"I love Orange. I love everything about Orange, I love the weather.

"We wanted to move to a regional area. We've been keeping a eye on a few places, it's time to live the dream."
Mr Moyo said he and wife Sehlapi and their six children were enjoying life in Orange.
Darren James said he and wife Kamayo moved from Wollongong in July.
"For me personally it's the best thing I've ever done," he said.
"It takes me six minutes to get work and six minutes to get back again. There is just so much to do."
Sam Ryder said she and husband Adam moved to Orange from Penrith a year ago.
"I love Orange. I love everything about Orange, I love the weather," she said.
Mrs Ryder said she worked in data analysis and both of them had found work in Orange.
Mr Ryder said they had been keen to leave Sydney.
"We wanted to get out of Penrith [because of] the crowds and the heat," he said.
Mr Ryder said they were happy with the choice of community clubs and activities in Orange.
"I've found a theatre company," he said.
And it has been a hectic time for Sam and Jemima Harma who moved to Orange in April.
Their baby Amelia was born in Orange and they will be getting married here in two weeks.
