The Orange Thunder Touch Football committee has suspended a member of the club executive over the incident which involved a group of people.
Club president Cathy Goodlock said the incident occurred after a senior men's game.
She said that apart from the police investigation the club was conducting its own investigation.
The club has also contacted NSW Touch Football which will be involved in the investigation process.
Central West District Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident but so far no charges have been laid.
A member of our club's executive was directly involved in the incident.

In a notice issued to members and supporters of Orange Thunder Touch Football Ms Goodlock said they were seeking statements from witnesses.
"There was a serious incident resulting in a physical altercation involving members of our club on Thursday evening," she said.
"Given the nature of the incident Orange police are conducting their own separate investigation and the club's executive and committee are fully supporting those investigations," she said.
"A member of our club's executive was directly involved in the incident. The club has stood down that member from all duties or association with the club, while the club completes its investigations.
"The club is also reviewing its internal administrative processes including assignment of officials to games and the club's interaction with teams.
"We sincerely apologise to all members who may have witnessed this events and who may have felt unsafe.
"The club is currently collecting written statements to support the investigation.
"We welcome anyone who witnessed the incident and who wishes to provide a written statement of what they observed to support this investigation.
"The statements will be kept confidential and can be provided in person or by email."
