When police arrived at the house he jumped out of a window and climbed over the back fence but was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
Douglas Vale, 24, of Lone Pine Avenue, was given a 12-month jail term with nine months non-parole a day after his arrest when he appeared in Orange Local Court and entered an immediate guilty plea.
After hearing the appeal in Orange District Court, Acting Judge Gregory Woods, dismissed the appeal and confirmed the conviction but set aside the sentence and gave Vale eight months jail with a five-month non-parole period.
Vale had already spent three months in custody and with the new sentence he could be eligible for parole on December 23, 2019.
He was on parole at the time of the offence, and he will be serving the balance of his parole until for other matters until January 31, 2021.
