The Youth Girls competition joined with the under 20s sides in pool games, pitting the Thunder - made up of mostly 15-year-olds - against 18 and 19-year-olds.
While coach Joel Begnell said the side was aiming to be "competitive" in the group stage and earn their way through to the finals, where the competition split back into the two age divisions.
Did they achieve that aim?
"Absolutely," Begnell said.
"They were a bit under the pump on Sunday when they were down to 10 players but they really dug deep and it shows."

Their efforts to finish atop their pool, beating four under-20s sides, sent them straight through to Sunday's grand final, where they came up against hosts Wagga Wagga Vipers and won comprehensively in a 7-2 victory.
That victory, and their finals few matches, all came with just 10 players after India Krause fractured her wrist in the competition's opening game.
Begnell said she bravely played through the first few games but had to sit out the second day.
The win meant a lot to the side, who'd just finished a Vawdon Cup campaign without a finals appearance.
"It was unfortunate they didn't make finals [in the Vawdon Cup], they put in a lot of effort and deserved it," Begnell said.
He said the reward wasn't just for the players.
"It's also massive pay-off for them but it's also reward for the coaches as well," Begnell said, citing his co-coaches Glen Prestwidge, Mark Waters and Mitch Leonard for their work with the group.
The side will split into different age groups heading into summer, but Begenall said it would be great for the girls' form as part of Thunder outfits primed to take on the State Cup in Port Macquarie over summer.
