Nearly 50 competitors took part at the Molong Golf Club's temporary disc golf course, and organiser and competitor Kevin Costa said it was an absolute hit for players and spectators alike.
"Wouldn't say we're a disc golf town yet but we're getting there," he said.
"We had state and international players and people would stop them in the street and as 'are you one of those disc golfers' and recognising them which they'd never had before.
"They were treating them like sporting royalty."
Costa said there was a "sizeable gallery" following the leaders around on the final day, and plenty of people showed interest in trying the sport, while two local juniors in Claire Neville and Alex Davis both competed - the latter lining up in the open age competition.
It'll provide a massive chance to boost the already-popular sport in Molong.
"Quite a few people came out on the the Friday and the Monday to watch, people were taking a lot of interest."
"It had the backing of the whole town."
So impressed were organisers with the Molong venture, Costa said the town will launch a bid to retain hosting rights in 2020, something which has never been done by a venue before - as well as launching a bid for Nationals.
"It's never been done before but we hope the whole town being behind us will give us a chance [to host it again]," Costa said.
On the course, Todd Nowack took home the open men's title after a tense finals round.
Each competitor took part in three 18-hole rounds before a nine-hole decider on the Monday gave the Canadian-born but Canberra-based player a three-stroke win.
Nowack came into the final round with a seven-stroke lead over Jonathon Jonas, but lost two stokes on the second hole. and had to fend him off.
"He put the pressure on me. I came in with a seven-shot lead, second hole nearly had a perfect shot but it hit a branch and spun out of bounds and he cut two off it," Nowack said.
"I held him off over the last couple of holes."
He said he'd felt reasonably in-form during the open, with the longer course playing to his strength, but had loved the chance to play in Molong.
"If you can take a lot of distance off that's a big help. My accuracy game wasn't as great but my putt was on, I think I played pretty well."
"[Molong] was great, really good people and support, and everything worked great, really. Really good holes on the course."
"Kevin [Costa]'s done a really good job out here."
Kairi Koobakene claimed the women's title ahead of Emilie Cameron on countback after a tie, while Paul Comninos won the amateur masters.
