Harvey is a die-hard GWS Giants fan, and both his parents - while Swans supporters - are foundation members of the AFL's newest club, and four Shephards - Matt, Danielle and Harvey's brother Fin - will be rolling into Melbourne on Saturday morning with orange and charcoal scarves held high.
As a five-year-old in the Giants' first year, Harvey decided to support them and has been steadfast ever since, sticking true to the club despite massive losses week on week in the difficult early years.
The family went to the Giants' first game, and Harvey said he "couldn't really stop", even though the Swans enjoyed a period of success in GWS' first few years, especially with family banter rubbing in any massive Giant losses.
"I'm glad I stuck with them though," he said.
His faith has been rewarded this season, with the plucky Giants coming from sixth position on the AFL ladder to leap into the grand final after defeating the Western Bulldogs, Brisbane and Collingwood in the past three weeks.
Harvey said he was "very" excited for the grand final, but is also nervous considering Richmond's finals experience.
He's also nervous considering he "doesn't lose well", according to mum Danielle.
"I shout a lot and lose my my voice the next day ... bit negative against Toby Greene when he's a bit dirty," Harvey said, referring to his dislike for the frequently-cited Giants forward, who landed in hot water for eye gouging during the finals.
Harvey lists injured midfielder Stephen Coniglio and star forward Jeremy Cameron as players he does like, but admits his favourite is pacey forward Brent Daniels, who visited Orange last year.
He's up in the air about who will win. "[The Giants] can win, but I dunno... Richmond haven't lost after the bye," he said.
Regardless of the result, Harvey's determined to bring the big big sound, which extends far beyond the west of Sydney, to the MCG.
