Jock Hough was born in the town and currently works as a fencer and labourer but recently brought the motel in town with his wife Tina.
At Friday's announcement, he said the facility was "the most exciting thing since the Hazeltons".
"Obviously there's been some good rumours getting about it that it could have anywhere from four to 200 people working at it but the scale they're hoping to get it to could support a good chunk of town as the Hazeltons once did," he said.
As new owners of the motel, he said the expected influx of visitors could be a boon for the Houghs, but he said it could help revitalise the whole town, with the post office one of the "few things keeping the town going".
"I think it's incredible for us, hopefully it'll be a boost to Cudal," he said.
