Central West Police District crime manager Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Grassick said police had obtained footage of the robbery on CCTV.
"We've been able to obtain some footage of an individual that we would like to speak to, that we believe will be able to assist us with our enquiries," he said.
"That male is described as between 20 and 30 years old, unshaven, caucasian, he was wearing dark clothing, a cap and a hoodie at the time."
He said the man entered the Starchem chemist on Lords Place at 5.45pm on Tuesday September 3 and demanded money from a young female staff member behind the counter.
"As you can imagine she was extremely frightened by this gentleman's approach and the threats he made," he said.
"She subsequently parted with a small amount of cash and that male has left that business premises. Fortunately she was not injured."
Anyone with information should contact Orange police or call NSW Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
