Organisers have asked for donations of water to be left at two businesses in Orange, Canobolas Auto One and Orange Real Estate.

Larlee Ramsay said the people of Euchareena urgently needed water after their town water supplies had run out in the current devastating drought.

Mrs Ramsay said the GB72 social group, including motorbike riders, had donated $400 for water.

Euchareena mum Fleur Magick Dennis said she and husband Laurance were having to pay about $450 a month to get water carted to their property after the town dam dried out 18 months ago.

"Our family is in financial crisis and in deep stress," she said.

"In the short term we want [Dubbo Regional Council] to pay for water cartage. In the long term we want them to put a bore in," she said.

Mrs Magick Dennis said she could not get government drought assistance because she lived in town and was not a farmer.

She said the small Euchareena Public School, which had only three students, had been provided with its own bore.

Mrs Magick Dennis said its success showed a bore could work in the town for its 50-70 residents.

"It is a very disadvantaged community. Our children have a human right to water," she said.

Council CEO Michael McMahon said the council was seeking drought funding for water carting to Euchareena and other towns.

"Staff at Dubbo Regional Council have been investigating the possibility of obtaining a licence for a bore to assist Euchareena with their non potable supply," he said.

"During this devastating drought Dubbo Regional Council has made 20,000 litres of water available for free for the 2019/2020 financial year, for eligible rural customers. Water is available at stand pipes across the local government area."
