The two-day conference will start early on Thursday with breakfast, with discussions focusing on sustainable water supply into the future, potable water reuse, dam surveillance and using artificial intelligence.
Orange City Council will also host a tour of the Blackmans Swamp Creek stormwater harvesting scheme.
AWA president Carmel Krogh said drought would factor into the discussions during the conference.
"But it's also about getting people to think ahead of the pack," she said.
"We definitely leave these things until it's too late so part of the agenda is how we can look to the future."
While water supply is a challenge at the moment, Ms Krogh said it was also important to consider the demand on water and how water authorities can engage with their communities.
Infrastructure Collaborative chief executive Jillian Kilby will be the keynote speaker, talking about using collaboration and technology to strengthen towns.
