The organisation's volunteers have been renovating CareWest's former March Street headquarters for the past three weeks, painting and replacing flooring in the future office and volunteer space, as well as building shelving in the shed next door where it will operate its store.
Committee secretary Alex Ruse said as Glenroi Community Centre had many programs and groups using the premises, volunteers often had to pack up the store after they closed for the day.
"We won't have to do any of that here," she said.
Ms Ruse said the store would also be larger, meaning it could stock more goods with wider variety, and the committee was considering opening for an extra nine hours a week.
"We would have three longer mornings and probably one afternoon late so people who are working can get to us," she said.
Many people who use FoodCare are working people - they might have two or three jobs but struggle to make ends meet.

Finding the premises at 142 March Street came after 18 months of searching.
With most of its customers living in Glenroi, Ms Ruse said FoodCare surveyed them to see if they would still use the service if it moved.
"All but one of the 100 people said they would still come," she said.
Located within blocks of Orange City Council's Home and Community Care Centre, the Curran Centre, MERIT and the future St Vincent de Paul headquarters, Ms Ruse said it was becoming a community hub.
"We always aspired to get a central location, but the cost of rent was a challenge - being located here, we're closer to Bowen and Spring Street and Calare," she said.
"Many people who use FoodCare are working people - they might have two or three jobs but struggle to make ends meet.
"I've had people say they can now pay their electricity bill."
The move will occur later this year, with the date yet to be confirmed.
FoodCare offers free transport for shoppers provided they call to book the day before.
