At Tuesday night's council meeting more than $30,000 was awarded to about 20 community groups and $24,000 for 10 upcoming events.
Banjo Paterson Poetry Festival committee member Len Banks said they were planning to introduce new events for the festival which is on from February 15-23 next year.
"We will have the usual events including the poetry competition and the night markets. We're also looking at some additional events that will cater to a wider audience," he said.
Mayor Reg Kidd said the funding helped keep the festivals strong.
"It's good that the broader community can now see which groups are getting some funding, what the funding is for, but in many cases it's not a financial donation.
"Often it's allowing groups to use facilities for free or waiving or reimbursing rates payments. There's always more requests than we can manage but I think we've reached a good balance."
The next round of assistance is open.
