Bathurst High's girls' football side played a monumental role in helping their school wrestle back momentum and ultimately secure victory in last week's opening tie of the 2019 Astley Cup, and they want to lead from the front against Orange too.

With that victory over Dubbo College under their belts Bathurst can secure a third straight Astley Cup title with a win over the Hornets this week, and Friday's girls' football clash shapes as a crucial fixture.
The two-time defending champions trailed Dubbo overnight last week, but their 4-1 girls' football win pushed them back to the overall lead on Friday, a boys' football draw and hockey victory ultimately securing the tie.
I don't think we'll go in feeling the pressure. We just always approach it like the score's nil-all. We could be 4-1 up and we'll still be playing just as hard.
- Bathurst's Kasey Fox
The fact that victory came on the road can't be underestimated, and Bathurst star Kasey Fox is hoping for a raucous atmosphere in this week's home tie.
"It's always good playing at home. Makes you even more keen for it," the year 11 student said.
"Last week was brilliant. We were down 1-nil near the start, which isn't ideal, but we came back strongly. Our striker Holly (Downey) got a hat trick and we had a great win.
"Our defence was strong and our attack was even stronger.
"It's a brilliant atmosphere, especially when the footy and [football] boys get cheering."
With this week's clash another potential scale-tipper on the second day, Fox would love another authority-stamping overall split, last week's 4-1 win equating to an 80-20 win.
"There was a really big sigh of relief after the game. We were really proud of ourselves to be able to get that split," she said.
"I don't think we'll go in feeling the pressure. We just always approach it like the score's nil-all. We could be 4-1 up and we'll still be playing just as hard."
Fox said the Bathurst team isn't short on either depth or talent, and is ready for any challenge that comes their way.

"We have a bunch of girls from the Western Mariners and we definitely have a strong midfield," she said.
"Joely (Anderson) is a brilliant player who has been to nationals. Menzi White's another Mariners player and Miranda Campbell's a great player."
Tennis opens this week's tie at 9am on Thursday morning, to be followed by basketball (11.30am), netball (12.45pm) and athletics (2pm).
Friday's second, and potentially title-deciding, day starts at 9.15am with hockey before the boys' football (10.45am) and girls' football (2pm), rugby league (3.45pm) concludes the tie.
